MIAMI — Rivero Mestre Managing Partner Amanda L. Fernandez recently moderated a panel titled “Regime Transitions: The Good, the Bad, & the Takeaways” at the Cuban American Bar Association’s Transitioning Cuba to Democracy Program.

Amanda and panelist—Aldo Leiva, Shareholder at Baker Donelson—discussed the practical implications of a regime transition, including the legal frameworks, governance structures, and institutional foundations necessary for a stable democratic system in Cuba.

Amanda serves as the Immediate-Past President of CABA, a non-profit voluntary bar association founded in 1974 by lawyers of Cuban descent. CABA’s members include judges, lawyers, and law students of all backgrounds interested in issues affecting the Cuban community, as well as broader legal and human rights issues impacting minority communities as a whole.
