NEW YORK — Michael A. Fernandez will speak at the HNBA Corporate Counsel Convention on a panel entitled “Crypto and Digital Currencies: Updates on the Regulatory Landscape and Litigation Developments” at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans, LA, on March 25, from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST.

The panel will provide a general overview of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets and the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding them as well as an introduction to several of the key issues and challenges that investors and financial service providers will face as a result of some of these uncertainties. The panel will also discuss the rise of class actions in the cryptocurrency market, damages issues related to blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in civil litigation and cross-border regulatory issues, including AML and FCPA, involving cryptocurrencies.

Michael’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory compliance issues. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he has experience representing foreign and domestic companies and individuals involved in arbitrations, litigations, and with investigations in the U.S., as well as parties to international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations conducted under the major international rules including UNCITRAL, ICSID, and ICDR.
