NEW YORK — Michael A. Fernandez will speak on a panel at the 2022 HNBA/VIA Annual Convention titled, “High Stakes and Red Flags: The Growing Intersection Between Compliance and Dispute Resolution” at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, DC on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

The panel will discuss corruption issues from a compliance officer’s perspective that often end in either arbitration or litigation and how they are dealt with. The panel will also consider the potential benefit of confidentiality in arbitration proceedings and the challenges of dealing with different cross-border regimes, in particular, those of Europe and Latin America.

Michael’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory compliance issues. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he has experience representing foreign and domestic companies and individuals involved in arbitrations, litigations, and with investigations in the U.S., as well as parties to international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations conducted under the major international rules including UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, and ICDR.
